My favourite thing in gardening is finding unexpected treasures -or plants I’ve forgotten about. I planted this Eucomis bicolor (pineapple lily) years ago. Each autumn it’s always a surprise- pushing up through an umbrella of geranium leaves. What plants have you “found” that have delighted you?
That’s very special.

A stunning picture, not a plant that I grow and I’m not sure why, I believe it has an unpleasant smell?? I love the alliums in the spring as they cheer me up no end. Have a wonderful weekend

It’s quite windswept here, so can’t smell anything. I love alliums too. Last spring I had some new ones called thunder and also purple rain. They were really gorgeous. Can recommend trying them. Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.

Beautiful details, Karen. A lovely plant, indeed. Right now, I’m loving my wild asters, they are exquisite this year.

It’s a really good year for asters. I think they liked all the summer rain. Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated. All the best- Karen

Beautiful. I love the contrasting purple with the pale green. Such a structure
plant too.

It’s beautiful from the top to the bottom. I love all the tiny individual flowers. Much loved by bees searching for late flowers. Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated

Thank you. It was a joy to find it in flower in my border next to the gravel driveway. A lovely welcome home.

Eucomis is a wonderful flower. I’ve been collecting seed, so fingers-crossed for babies next year. I love it when cyclamen pop out of the ground in the autumn, especially around the base of trees.

These have seeded about too. I only planted one bulb. The mice have moved the cyclamen about in my garden. They are coming up in all kinds of unexpected places. Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated

Unexpected spring wildflowers always thrill me most, especially trilliums.

Trilliums are so beautiful- and so tricky to grow here. I might try again though for next spring. They are gorgeous. Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.
